  1. In the first chapter of "Gulliver's Travels" we are introduced to the main character, Lemuel Gulliver. As the plot develops we are able to realize that the story is complete satire. Swift uses humor to introduce other characters, for example, the 6 inch people and the main character himself to introduce the abuse of power. As I read, I was able to paint a clear mental picture of what was going on. I was able to separate what was imaginary to what was real.

  2. The first chapter of "Gulliver’s Travels" was very fun and interesting to read. I could imagine everything that was written because it was like an adventure. The character of Gulliver portrays gull and innocence. Through his character we see the story in his perspective. The story also shows fantasy and humor when describing the people of Lilliput. The fantasy in this story brings light to many truths that go beyond the story and into England in this time period.

  3. In the first part of Guillivers Travels. Lemuel Gulliver wakes up confused and tied down. All he sees are these 6 inch people. (this story reminds me of that jack black movie). Then they start talking in an unknown language. Jonathan swift satires the different cultures and the European government.

  4. In chapter one of the excerpt from "Gulliver's travels" we learn a little about the background of the main character, Lemuel Gulliver, about his family and his studies. Through this we see how Lemuel ended up in the land of the tiny people that are six inches tall. From the actions the main character makes as he is held captive on the land by the tiny people what i thought was that this character was very submissive and not very aggressive. I think this because if he is giant compared to them, a bunch if tiny people shouldn't exactly be a problem for him to get away. I think that Lemuel allowed himself to be help captive because he was intrigued by the tiny people and that would also explain why he agrees to help them in the end when he agrees to help him protect their land.

  6. The excerpt of the story gives background information of the main character. He wakes up tied down by little people of which he is being held captive. He is then spoken to by them in different languages that he cant understand. He then spends some time with them and learns their ways and customs. In the end they ask him for help to protect their land and he agrees.

  7. In the Story the main character is found on an island where he is tied down by little people who are actually six inches tall. It is written in a form of satire. He is considered a giant among the people on the land. Where he makes fun of their language and their customes. The main character's name is Lemuel. Its very interesting.

  8. When I was reading it I saw what was happening while I was reading like if it was a movie. It shows what type of person he was and it shows how the story is in his eyes. He wakes up and doesn’t know what’s happening. He wakes up surrounded by 6inch people that talk in a different language. He is held captive and doesn’t even try to escape. He could easily do it but doesn’t. He then helps them protect there land and helps them. This shows the type of person he is.

  9. Gullivers travel is about an adventure/voyage thats taken by the character as he travels. The story is told after he gets home from his last voyage. In the voyage to Lulliput he talks about a story experienced in the ships. He's washed ashore after a shipwreck and awakes to find himself a prisoner. Which forces him to then swim down to the shore where he meets these people that take him down to meet the emperor.

  10. This story was filled with humor, in the sense that this giant was unable to liberate himself from these little people. I could imagine the size of their bow and arrows and see that it is unlikely they would hurt the giant. At the end I understood that they set him free and he inturn defends them against intruders.

  11. In the firt charpter of"Gullive's Travels"they start off by introducing the main character Lemuel Gulliver. I could picture in my head all Gulliver being surrounded by all of these little people. The part that i foud halarious was when the little people threw arrows at him and it didnt hurt him. Also when they fed him and he couldnt get full because the food eas to small. They couldnt let himm loose before because they barley understood his language.

  12. In the"Gulliver’s Travels" it starts off with a ship wreck and Lemuel Gulliver ends up in an island called Lilliput. Which is where the people are only six inches tall. When introducing the people Swift uses humor. When he gets to Lilliput he is held captive because they thought he was abnormal since he was gigantic compared to them. When reading this satire I could picture what's happening clearly in my head.
